Alfred Hitchcock died in America on the 29th April 1980. I’m sure many of us have seen one or more of his films and having seen them will know why he was called “The Master of Suspense”.
He was born in Leytonstone at the beginning of the last century. At the age of six he did something worthy of punishment, so his father sent him round to the local police station with a note. He was locked up in a cell for five minutes and was told, “that’s what we do with naughty boys.” He never forgot this incident and it obviously had the desired effect.
